There are eight anchors at Channel One. These are people
that schoolchildren have to watch each day because of the Channel One
contract. These on-air personalities are the "face" of Channel
One. They are the facade. These are the "pretend reporters".
No matter how bad they are their audience is locked-in. Over the years,
many of these Channel One reporters have become the subject of fan clubs
created by the young people who start their day with Channel One. Student
support for Channel One comes mainly from younger middle school students.

We will look at each anchor over the course of the next
few months. Channel One puts out very little information about their
anchors. For example, they refuse to publish their birth year in order
to keep students in the dark about how much older they are than their
audience. Obligation feels that these young people need a spotlight on
them. Few parents know who is speaking to their child every day from
Hollywood.

Andrew Yani

Channel One gets rid of anchors who don’t "fit". Will Monestine
was one of the latest to be tossed on the junk pile of ineffective anchors.  Yani
will follow soon.

He is uncomfortable in the studio and a little less so out in the field.
He reads his teleprompter like it’s a chore. His interaction with other
anchors is mechanical.

Like all the anchors we have no idea how old Yani is. We know he is from
Honolulu. Channel One only lists a high school for him so it is unclear
if he is going to college or is a drop-out or if he never attended. Working
in Yani’s favor is the fact that there is absolutely no need for a college
education in order to be a Channel One anchor/reporter.

Andrew Yani’s Report Card

Goofy Factor
C
Looked absolutely silly pushing the introduction of All Request Thursday.
He has no future in legitimate TV journalism. Says he got the Channel
One job through his agent. "Agent"!? His agent may be more
goofy than Yani.
Intellectual Factor:
C
May be one of the weaker sisters at Channel One. Has trouble with
unscripted segments.  His strong point is he’s a talented surfer.
Ethical Factor:
C-
Surprisingly, Yani’s unimpressive performance may be due to his lack
of enthusiasm for Channel One’s unethical purpose. After all his agent
found him this job, so being on Channel One was not a dream of his.
However, Yani appears to be a typical Channel One robot who will do
what he has to earn a fat paycheck.
