Turning Up The Sexual Tension In Class

April 19, 2003

She’s hot and she’s back in your child’s class. These images are from the newest Shakira/Pepsi ad playing now on Channel One News. It was shown in middle schools and high schools. Shakira comes to life in a convenience store and hikes her leg up as the stunned employee grabs her thigh. Shakari is a latin singer who has signed a big contract with Pepsi. Her job is to ooze sex and sell both her CDs and Pepsi. Channel One has shown at least three different Shakira/Pepsi ads. At least this time she is wearing pants, although her top is not held together very securely. You can image the sight of school board attorneys passing out when they see what Channel One News is bringing into classrooms. This isn’t your father’s classroom. (Keep in mind that the thirty seconds that this video took away from students was paid for by taxpayers – not Pepsi, not Channel One.)

Parents, if you don’t know who Shakira is, then ask your child. If you child goes to a school that still has a contract with Channel One News, then they know all about Shakari and they know about her body which they see quite a bit of watching Channel One News.

She is a musical artist that finds clothing very confining. The Channel One executives are flipped out over this woman and have agreed to show her provocative commercials pushing her music and Pepsi on the middle school and high school broadcasts of Channel One News.

We have reported on the ad that mimics a stripper on a stage. Channel One had no problem with Shakira appearing in a black two-piece bathing suit/underwear outfit with a see-through body stocking. (Anything to sell these kids more Pepsi and Shakira CDs.

Now in April 2003, Channel One has agreed to show another Shakira/Pepsi ad and you can see the main portion of it by clicking here. At least this time Shakari is wearing pants, although she has her midriff exposed and her top looks like it is held on by one button.

Sex sells and nobody knows this better than Channel One’s president Jim Ritts and his Sales VP Kent Haehl. These ads are making them a ton of money and their children don’t have to watch Channel One. (New York, Channel One’s home state, has always banned the show from all public schools.)

When a school brings sexually provocative images into a classroom, then the school board, the superintendent, the principal, and the teacher are going to be held accountable.

One act. That is all it will take. One act of inappropriate conduct by a student and the school board is in big, serious trouble. All it will take is for one female student to be confronted or groped by a male student who has been “encouraged” by something sexual on Channel One News. It won’t be difficult for the attorney representing the victim to find this web site, or other information about Channel One News, and realize that the school knew all along that they were routinely showing content that a reasonable and prudent person should have known would heighten sexual tension in a classroom. The school board attorney is going to beg to settle out of court.

If school administrators are trusting Channel One executives to monitor the content of the show, then the administrators haven’t been watching Channel One. Maybe a plea of ignorance will get them off the hook – who knows.
