Channel One News advertised Twinkies to schoolchildren.

August 7, 2017

From Jim Metrock:  Why would the kiddie marketers at Channel One News advertise Hostess Twinkies to schoolchildren when they knew there was a childhood obesity crisis in the country?

The reason is simple: Channel One News was created by advertising and marketing people to sell whatever they could get away with to a captive audience of kids.

Parents didn’t know that Channel One News was urging their kids to eat more M&Ms, Snickers, Lays Potato Chips, Hostess Cupcakes and Twinkies, and on and on.  Channel One News made it nearly impossible for parents to know what they were plugging in classrooms.
This ad is from 2001/2002.  Today in 2017, Channel One refuses to provide a list of its advertisers to the public.  Who knows what these kiddie marketers are pitching now.
