Raunchy Fox show gets heavy promotion on Channel One News and channelone.com

July 21, 2010

Schoolchildren who are forced to watch Channel One News last school year were reminded over and over again that they should watch Fox’s prime time show Glee.

The Parents Television Council is one of several organizations that are repulsed by the sexual content of this show.

From the PTC website:

The few executives left at Channel One News wholeheartedly disagree with the Parents Television Council.  Channel One likes pushing the envelope with kids.

Last school year Channel One invited the several cast members of Glee to help give a Pop Quiz.  One of the characters Channel One News chose to showcase to schoolchildren was one of the gay characters played by Chris Colfer.  Why do that?  Why not give middle school kids, who are compelled to experience Channel One News each day, a break from the it’s-all-about-sex popular culture?

Channel One News even encouraged kids to enter a contest to appear on Glee.  Teachers have little or no idea what type of show Glee is.  Some may sit back as they take their 12-minute break while Channel One News babysits their students and think to themselves, “Oh isn’t that nice, what a nice little commercial for a show all about singing.”

Parents can’t depend on school officials to monitor what Channel One News is dumping on students.  Teachers and administrators don’t have time to keep a check on Channel One.  Over 4,000 fewer schools have Channel One than in 2003.  Is there any wonder why?
