Wren High is in western South Carolina.

Jim Metrock: The remaining employees of Channel One News have to be feeling pretty low.  Their audience keeps getting smaller and smaller and schools are more and more disregarding Channel One’s viewing requirements.

Here’s what Channel One says in their contract: Channel One News must be shown when students are present and seated in a homeroom or classroom setting (i.e. not before school, after school or during lunch)…

The educators at Wren High School in Piedmont, South Carolina have rejected that demand. As you can see, students have to be in seats by 8:00 which is the start of the school day. The 12-minute Channel One News is given ten minutes of time before school starts. Congratulations to this Anderson School District One high school for valuing academic time more than Channel One marketing time. Like many schools, Wren High has made a decision to show Channel One News to empty classrooms. (I can’t imagine any right thinking student wanting to get to school early just to see this TV show and its commercials.)
